"This town has a certain energy like no other place in the world," says Bill Saxton, jazz musician and owner of Bill's Place, a Harlem jazz club Saxton founded with Theda Palmer-Saxton in 2006. The small club, located at 148 West 133rd Street (between Lenox and 7th Avenue; 212-281-0777) is on the "original swing street," once home to several speakeasies. The club also lays claim to the spot where Billie Holiday was discovered as teenager. "I'd like to see more musicians from New York because they're all coming to New York," Saxton says.
